ALBUM REVIEW - Mariah Carey - Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse

We thought Mariah Carey was on the way out after many poor attempts with new music over the last few years, and don't even get us started again with that single Triumphant!! However, after a great single #Beautiful, would this be the comeback to the charts with the new album titled Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse...

The Dream Lover singer, who famously threw glitter on contestants as an American Idol judge, is back with her 14th album (wowser) of pop R&B, mellow hip-hop and ballad tracks, including the piano infused combined with delicate vocals of Cry, that sets the scene for the entire album.

Great tracks include the amazing lead single #Beautiful that is a summer tingled jam that features guest vocals from Miguel and Thirsty is a catchy R&B number. We get slightly dramatic beats in Make It a Look Good that combines MC’s lyrical rolls. Your Mine (Eternal) is that soft R&B summer jam about her lover that is actually all right, if not amazing. The chorus is catchy, her voice sounds good (if not a little auto-tuney), and has the inclusion of Trey Songz which makes it a winner. You Don't Know What To Do is MC returning to form and has an intro that reminds of Somebody Else's Guy by Jocelyn Brown and could become a Mariah anthem.

The pop diva continues to deliver with this album, apart from a few tracks including Super Natural featuring guest vocals from her children which is just not required. That said overall Mariah comes across confident and relaxed in this LP full of hip-hop and R&B summer jams and classic pop MC ballads.

Note to all pop stars, please leave children off all your future records. Thanks!

Welcome back Mariah, it's good to have you home!!!
