The fifth solo album from the Destiny’s Child singer has shifted 617,213 units in the first 3 days only in the US with a combined total of 828,773 internationally. Easily set to be number one after its first week in the Billboard charts this week with it breaking the first-week digital sales record for an album in the United States. Crikey.
It will also be the fastest singer's best first-week numbers, even topping her 2006 album B’Day,
Speaking of the surprise album release, containing 14 songs and 17 new videos, Lee Ann Callahan-Longo, the general manager for seven years of Beyonce's production company Parkwood Entertainment said "You have to be innovative. The internet has changed the game. You've got to look at how to address the fact that most artists' albums leak before their release plans,'' continuing saying, "Look at where your opportunities can lie and that's kind of how we approached it. We had a multitude of things we were trying to accomplish, some things we were trying to avoid, and this turned out to be the right perfect plan for us.''
Classed by Queen B as her ‘Visual album’ and containing some amazing collaborations with Jay Z, Drake, Frank Ocean and Justin Timberlake, it seems the album wasn’t easy to keep secret "It wasn't easy and we were really careful,'' Callahan-Longo said "It started with a very small core group of people and only grew when necessary in order to make something happen. It got a little dicey there and concerning as we got closer and closer as the circle had to widen.''
Who would dare cross the Queen and King of music anyway and we wonder how much those inner circles were paid for their silence? With album sales set to smash 1million maybe within its first week, we think it would of been money well spent..!
