A evening with... Jessica Mauboy..!

We were honored to be invited to the last night in Sydney of the Jessica Mauboy To The End Of The Earth tour last week and what a show the Australian sweetheart gave us…

Many would know that we have a soft spot for Jess Mauboy. It started on Australian Idol, grew after releasing her debut tracks Been Waiting and Burn, then she mesmerized us in her movie debut The Sapphires, gave us heart thump disco love with new album Beautiful and exploded us with starry eyed pop love when we interviewed her recently. Not only does she produce pop gems like Saturday Night and Pop A Bottle, she REALLY is a beautiful and charismatic charming lady.

But how was her concert???

In short, it didn’t disappoint on ANY level. When you think back to Ms Mauboy on Australia Idol, she was a sweet innocent shy girl who needed direction. Now, she OWNS the stage and the audience. With little staging, apart from a few dramatic lighting effects and her 4 piece band and 2 backing singers, Jessica Mauboy strutted onto stage in a smoking hot silver hot pants look, stood firmly to command the audiences attention and then launched into Up/Down where she showed us her impressive dance moves, then launched onto Burn, an SCP favourite that we still dance to at SCP HQ come a Friday!

Continuing swiftly on, the whole concert was amazing, as Jess took us through her entire back catalogue of her tracks, threw in a few covers from Whitney Houston and Cyndi Lauper, then the sound track to The Sapphires and ended on her biggest hits, including new track Beautiful and recent smash hit Pop A Bottle. It was an interesting move by the singer not to just plug her new album, instead showcasing her back catalogue of work for her fans, ensuring the show was a crowd pleaser, which it definitely delivered.

Here’s the set list…
Been Waiting
Let Me Be Me
Running Back
Scariest Part
Handle It
Get 'Em Girls
I Have Nothing
(Whitney Houston cover)
Time After Time
What Happened to Us
(with Nathaniel Willemsie)

I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)
(Four Tops cover)
Land of a Thousand Dances
(Chris Kenner cover)

In short, our love for Jessica Mauboy has grown as she delivered a brilliant show, which will only gain her further fans and credibility and proves that out of these music reality TV shows, true stars can be found!
