Best and Worst of the MTV Video Music Awards..!

It was one of THE nights in the music industry calendar as MTV held is annual Video Music Awards. No stranger to controversy, the night did not disappoint as we look at the best and worst parts of the show, along with who walked away with the prestigious awards…

If you have been living under a rock today, you would of heard something about the awards today, from Miley Cyrus’ SHOCKING performance,  Taylor Swift being a mean girl, Lady Gaga saluting her journey in pop and One Direction getting booed on stage. However the night no doubt belonged to Justin Timberlake.

The best parts…

JT not only won many awards including Best Video for Mirrors and Best Direction for Suit & Tie he also won the Michael Jackson Video Vangaurd Award. Impressive hey! Then he basically showed up all the other performances at the MTV Video Music Awards with a discography of his solo hits to date, ending in the reformation of his original boy band members of N’SyncJC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass to perform Bye Bye Bye

Lady Gaga also didn’t disappoint opening the show appearing in a white nuns dress outfit and a square head dress, as she led into her recent hit Applause with many wig and outfit changes through out the performance. With each of the costumes changes, we did wonder if there was a salute to Gaga’s evolution as an artist, as the outfits reminded us of her last three albums. There were a few boo’s at the beginning of the performance however Gaga soon responded with that she piped the boo’s through the sound system! Ha!

Also a great conclusion to the show with Katy Perry arriving wearing a bejewelled grill with her new single title Roar performing her song under Brooklyn Bridge dressed as a boxer.

The worst parts…
The main three worth mentioning was firstly One Direction getting booed on stage as they collected the award for Song Of Summer for Best Song Ever. Bless  them, but boys that’s show business.

Secondly was Taylor Swift’s turning Mean Girls as she took a swipe at Selena Gomez and ex lover Harry Styles by mouthing a expletive to them both that erupted on Twitter moments after the incident.

Last and most probably the most dreadful, was Miley Cryus performances to basically shock as many people she could in a performance by being offensive, slutty and terrible. Her first performance was We Can’t Stop as she twerked with stage full of giant teddy bears. Weird! Then stripping to a nude bikini to perform Blurred Lines alongside sexually charged Robin Thicke as she rubbed a foam finger on her lady parts and also gave Thicke a lap dance live on stage. We kid you not! Check out this picture...

Shameful! Miley, we were not really fans before however you have just gone further done in our estimations now, all in just an effort to look cool! How sad!

Anyway, always an eventful night and congratulations to all the winners of the VMA’s and especially Justin Timberlake, who deserves the honour as he truly is a pop star we respect..!
