New Video Alert - Die Antwoord - I Fink U Freeky

Um.. this is different. You only need to look at the album cover of Die Antwoord's new album Ten$ion to know that. But there's something strangely alluring about this. Intriguing. Not just the album cover - the song and the video as well! Hailing from South Africa, Die Antwoord means 'The Answer' in Afrikaans and Ten$sion is their 2nd album which is released by their own ZEF recordz label. They must have really seen something in this band and with their new single and video I Fink U Freeky you'll see it too. Watch it. We dare you..!

New Single Alert - Vanbot - Got To Get Out

Our favourite Swedish singer-songwriter and winner of SnapCacklePop Best Debut Album Award 2011 is back with a new single Got To Get Out. Vanbot premiered the new track this week and is the first new material since her brilliant self-titled album dropped last year.  The new single is once again electro infused pop delight, following similar lines as her previous hits Lost Without You, Numb and Make Me Break Me.
The singer explains the inspiration for the new records is from her hometown.
“Even though Stockholm is a small city, I sometimes feel that it has a cold mentality where eye contact often is avoided, and people don´t waste their greetings. My new single Got To Get Out is about feeling lonely in the crowd and it´s a call to break the ice”
We can only see our love for this pop star growing more and more, especially with a new album due later this year. Vanbot, we still love you and loving your new track Got To Get Out. Check it out below..!
Got To Get Out is available digitally today iTunes

New Video Alert - Hyper Crush - Werk Me

What do you get if you cross LMFAO with SCP favourite LucianaHyper Crush! Formed in 2006 as school mates at Agoura High School in California, Hyper Crush formed a following on MySpace with their energetic electro hip-hop stylings. Jumping around record labels they had limited success for their offerings, however they did score some major success touring, opening for Kevin RudolphFar East Movement and even Lady GaGa for her 2009 Europe tour! This is one funky song that we've had on repeat in the SCP offices - following the repetitive upbeat formula championed by LMFAO and in your face vocals a lá Luciana, we hope Werk It, works it, for Hyper Crush..!

Their new album Night Wave is out now on iTunes.

Like Vocal Few, they are another couple making sweet music together and have been since high school and have a debut album due out later his year. New Single Alert - Madonna - Girl Gone Wild

Following up her hit Give Me All Your Luvin, Madonna  has released the lyric video for her next single Girls Gone Wild.
The Benny Benassi and Alle Benassi produced track will be the second single of the taken from the singers forthcoming album MDNA. Though continuing the dancey theme of its predecessor, we don’t think it hits the mark and a weaker second single, however will no doubt be a huge hit anyway. Check out Girls Gone Wild below

New Video Alert - Natalia Lesz - That Girl

Hailing from Warsaw Poland, Natalia Lesz is quite popular in her home country appearing on the Polish Dancing With The Stars to record the highest score of all time on the show. New Single Alert - Ester Dean - Gimme Money feat. Nicki Minaj

If Ester Dean released all the songs she had written for other pop stars herself, sh would be a global star already, after writing for Beyonce, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Mary J, Xtina, Kelly Clarkson and Nicki Minaj to name honestly just a few. Now the songwriting is coming from of camera with her lead single Gimme Money featuring our favourite alter ego Nicki Minaj.

This R&B radio friendly track is full of funky dance beats with a slight hard edge as Dean sings with her raspy voice about finding true love. The track is taken from her debut album which she has been working on with rapper Nicki Minaj and Alexis Jordan. However it seems the singer needed some convincing to take the step into the spotlight when talking of her forthcoming album after saying...
"I did not want to be an artist because I was afraid" continuing saying, "I had tried that before but I learnedI had to lose 20 pounds when I weighed only 130 pounds, it poisoned me, however Polow wanted to embrace everything about me and welcomed me to his family just like me ".

Check out the track below and let us know what you think..?

New Video Alert - LMFAO - Sorry For Party Rocking

To say that LMFAO had a good 2011 would be a massive understatement. Party Rock Anthem now holds the record as the fastest selling digital single of all time and Sexy And I Know It has been a smash single with the words 'wiggle wiggle wiggle' repeated by millions world wide! With millions of screaming fans world wide anything that Justin Bieber touches turns to gold. Far East Movement is hoping that his touch will turn their latest effort Live My Life to gold too! Cher to tour AGAIN..!

Yep, you read correctly, even though Cher did her 325 date Farewell Tour back in 2005, the singer is coming out of retirement and hitting the road again this year. Though the singer had previously stated she had ‘retired’ she appeared at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for nearly three years until Feb 2010, however seems she can not get enough of life on the road.

"No s--t im shaking ! The whole set/look changes 4 every song! I mean COMPLETING CHANGES! Tour starts in Sept! First date's Kansas.

"Now I REALLY DO NEED TOP 10 FAVORITES ! Its Scary 2 ! (sic)"

Seems the 65 year old doesn't fully understand the true definition of retirement. That said, she has got her twenty sixth album to promote, which she as said is "way dance" and worked with Lady Gaga on a duet call The Greatest Thing and produced by RedOne.

Cher's new album is due out later this year.

Lady Gaga upset by NME Award

Seems not all awards are received well by Lady Gaga. Music magazine NME has named Mother Monsters album Born The Way the "most pretentious album ever" which hasn’t sat well with the singer and took to twitter to vent saying…

"Oh the irony of winning 'Most Pretentious Album Ever' from none other than NME. *eyeroll* I might laugh forever + then return to narcissism."

However, we are slightly surprised by this award as NME gave it 8 out of 10 last year when it was released.

One Direction to tour Australia..!

THE hottest pop band of the moment, One Direction yesterday announced their Australian Tour. A few eyebrows were raised at the SCP HQ today when most of the girls in the office got a bit too excited about the news and then office gossip turned to which one of 1D was cutest.
The Brit Award winners, aged from 18 to 20, will play three headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this April. Tickets go on sale at 9am, Friday March 2nd.

“We can’t wait to come down under and meet everyone that has supported us,” said Zayn Malik on the news of their first visit to our shores.

New Video Alert - Paris Hilton - Drunk Text

Well this isn’t exactly a "new" video from Paris Hilton however we could let THIS pass..! The below video is a previously unreleased video for Drunk Text that has been “leaked” and see’s the socialite speak over electro beats. Though not a real lover of this track, we at SCP must confess that ahem mind a few of the Paris previous release and are interested what the Hilton heiress will server up on her next record after working with LMFAO. What do you think?

Friday Song - Adele

No one, we say NO-ONE can deny that 2011 belonged to Adele for her corker album 21 was the sound track to last year. With the Brit singer winning at The Grammys, The Brits and of course the SnapCacklePop Music Awards, it only feel fitting that the our Friday Song be dedicated to the the singer who cites the Spice Girls as her inspiration. Adele, quite simply, you rock!

New Single Alert - Pepper - Happy Girl (Acoustic)

We can't help but love Pepper! She draws us in from the first line with her catchy lyrics, funky beats and oozes of personality shown in this  new track Happy Girl or her previous release Running Rings. Bravo Mr Dizzee Rascal, you sure have discovered a pure pop gem.
Pepper will be supporting Rizzle Kicks on their upcoming UK Tour this Feb / March
Check out another acoustic session from the gorgeous Pepper.
We think we have a slight crush.

New Video Alert - Max Barskih - Z.Dance Episode 1

Now you all know we love a bit of Euro Pop here at SCP and Max Barskih from the Ukraine is set to do well in Eurovision this year, but this song is all about the video! Wow! A real Buffy The Vampire Slayer slash Michael Jackson  Thriller vibe with blood, guts and gore going everywhere! Max attaches some blades to his Lada and takes out half the vampire population of the Ukraine! Then the video takes a decidedly Thriller turn with in sync dancing zombies & all! Then he goes and takes them all out! A hot looking artist, a brilliant video and a pretty good pop song - you must watch it now..!

New Video Alert - Will Young - Losing Myself

After melting our hearts once again on The Graham Norton Show singing Silent Valentine our British husband Will Young has premiered the video for Losing Myself. The Pascal Gabriel co-written track is the third single from his brilliant Richard X produced fifth studio Echoes, which was nominated for a SnapCacklePop Music Award for POP Album Of The Year.

The very stylish video features our husband, sorry Will Young, starting a standard working day, however is accompanied by his many alter egos, with a few slick synchronized dance moves thrown into the disco-sprinkled track. Bravo hubby.

Will Young's album Echoes is available on iTunes now.

And the Winner is... The Brit Awards 2012

On Sunday night, the Brit Awards were held at London’s O2 Arena and once again it was Adele that was queen of the night. Winning Female Solo Artist and British Album of The Year for her album 21, we sure hope Adele has a large trophy room in her new home. Her album is set to sell bucket loads more, after the profile it has got lately, with sales currently at 17million, it is tipped the album will be expected to top 20m.

The UK equivalent of The Grammys was also a great night for newcomer Ed Sheeran, who won British Male Solo Artist of the year and British Breakthrough Act.
Lana Del Ray struggled to control her emotions as 25-year-old received the gong for International Breakthrough Act and new boyband sensation One Direction won Best British Single, as we predicted.
SnapCacklePop crew didn’t do too badly with their predictions, getting 6 out of the 10 awards correct, however there a few surprises with no salute to Jessie J or even Lady Gaga. Perhaps Mother Monster was busy that night.

Check out the full list below and the performance by Adele that (once again) brought everyone to their feet.

New Video Alert - Cassie - King Of Hearts

Me & U is the best known song from 25 year old R&B singer Cassie who has had limited success with her other singles, however with this unique new track she's hoping to make more of an impact. An interesting video game type backing music gives this track real depth, and Cassie's smooth vocals finish it off well. The video is very sexy too with Cassie showing off her.. um... assets in a taped outfit a la Cher in If I Could Turn Back Time! Check out the latest from CassieKing Of Hearts here now..!

New Single Alert - Kat DeLuna - Give Me Your Love

With Madonna's new single Give Me All Your Loving being one of the biggest tracks out right now, it's probably not a good idea to release a single with a similar name - but that hasn't phased Kat DeLuna! A SCP One To Watch back in September last year we've kept a close eye on Kat and are quite excited to tell you about her new single Give Me Your Love. A simple yet effective dance song the track plays on Kat's power vocals and electronic style with a slightly Rihanna esque vibe. A great track that should be pumping out of the clubs very soon..

Queen & Adam Lambert to perform at Knebworth Park..!

When Freddie Mercury performed in 1986 for Queen’s final known concert at Knebworth Park he said “Earlier on there were rumours of us splitting up, but I mean – f*** ‘em – how can you split up when you have an audience like this.”
Now a quarter of a century have since passed and rock legends Queen are to return to play a second concert at the venue that provided them with the setting for one of their biggest and most historic concerts. Queen’ Brian May and Roger Taylor today confirmed the band will headline the second day of this year’s Sonisphere Festival  appearing  at the festival home ground  Knebworth Park, Stevenage, on Saturday July 7.
However they have a very interesting support act, when May and Taylor confirmed that for this special one-off concert –the band’s only UK concert appearance in 2012 – they will be joined by US singer-songwriter Adam Lambert.

The biggest Rock Band and American Idol winner first encountered each other during American Idol Season 8 in May 2009 where Lambert joined the band to perform We Are the Champions and have always hinted at a future collaboration, most recently with Taylor telling Billboard Magazine “"He (Adam)has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that's great. We would like to work with him again. There's nothing signed just yet but …it could be very exciting."

The Sonisphere 2012 Knebworth stage will at last provide an eager public the opportunity to see May, Taylor and Lambert delve deeper into exploring their very evident  artistic appreciation of one another. Brian May said  “Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy.  It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth ?  It will be a rush.”

Lambert adds:  “I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I'm honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory. He's a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on display.”
Queen’s last performance at Knebworth Park, was with the great Freddie Mecury some twenty-six years ago ,  on the band’s monstrously successful Magic Tour which had spread out across Europe over eight weeks of that summer.  Over a million people had already paid to see them.

On what will undoubtedly rate as one of this summer’s most highly anticipated and emotionally charged concerts Queen’s Roger Taylor says: "I remember Knebworth as being the most incredible gig, with the most amazing audience and the sound on stage was utterly perfect. It was a fitting last stand before a live audience for Freddie. It will be a real challenge to complete the circle by returning with Adam."
We can’t wait..!

Pop - LIVE! - Whitney Houston (A Tribute)

As Whitney Houston was laid to rest over the weekend, we at SCP wish to remember the singer for her talent, not the inner demons that surrounded her for the last decade. Whitney was a diva, recording artist, actress, producer, and model and one of the world's best-selling music artists, releasing seven studio albums and three movie soundtrack albums, having sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide, Whitney was a superstar with a capital STAR..!
So at SCP HQ we want to remember the icon as we bring you some of the best live performances from her 35 year career.
Born in Newark, New Jersey Whitney Elizabeth Houston was second child of gospel singer Cissy Houston and entertainment executive John Russell Houston, Jr. at age 11 the talent was beginning to show, as Whitney performed as a solo artist in her local choir singing Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah. Throughout her school days her dedicated mother taught her to sing, being surrounded by other music icons like her godmother Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, and Roberta Flack, who inspired the young Whitney on to become the singer she became.

Her first taste true of the music world, was when she toured with her mother, sometimes getting up on stage to perform, which lead to providing backing vocals on a number of hits including Chaka Khan hit single I’m Every Woman. It was in 1983 that Whitney got her main break, performing in front of music mogul Clive Davis who was impressed the singer he offered a worldwide recording contract and it was all systems go..!

Her debut track onto the world stage was the soulful ballad You Give Good Love which peaked at number 3  in the Billboard Hot 100 and No.1 on the R&B Chart which sparked a sore in popularity, with Whitney’s self titled debut album selling 13 millions copies worldwide and with that, a star was born.
The same album then started to knock out hit after hit, with jazz ballad Saving All My Love for You, How Will I Know and Greatest Love of All which have all become Whitney classics in everyone’s pop collection, with the latter reaching No.1 and remaining there for three weeks. However this album and the videos that accompanied the hits became more important moment in Whitney’s career, as she was the first African-American female artist to receive consistent heavy rotation on MTV.

The second album, Whitney, cemented the singer on the international stage and became the first album by a female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 albums charts.
With all of the first four singles released of the album — I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me), Didn't We Almost Have It All, So Emotional and Where Do Broken Hearts Go all peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and winning a plethora of awards including a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)

Following yet another No.1 album I'm Your Baby Tonight it was then when Whitney was requested to audition for the lead female role opposite Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard. In Costner eulogy at the singer’s funeral, he said “‘A lot of men could have played that [bodyguard] role. But you Whitney were the only person who could have played Rachel Marron”

The film's original soundtrack won the 1994 Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Its lead single I Will Always Love You, became the best-selling single by a female artist in music history.
From there, Whitney continued to star in movies and providing the soundtrack to Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher's Wife with the latter becoming the best-selling gospel album in history.

The fourth studio album My Love Is Your Love came in 1998, which was full of mid-tempo R&B, hip hop, ballads, urban-dance, reggae hits, showed an edgier more mature voice, singing about marital blues and scars obviously received through her troubled marriage. Check out Whitney performing It's Not Right But Its Okay live at The Brit Awards in 1999

Three further albums were released including a Christmas special One Wish: The Holiday Album and her 2009 comeback album I Look To You which included the brilliant Million Dollar Bill which was written by Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys and remixed by The Freemasons and was our Friday song last week.

However it was early Whitney that really made her an international star and that we will remember her fondly for, the brilliant hits she has given us, with hours of dancing round the SCP HQ office. Whitney you were a legend and boy, could you sing! It wouldn’t be right not to end our tribute with the biggest selling Whitney track of all time, I Will Always Love You.

Whitney, its was such tragic news to hear of your passing and we are devastated by the loss to the music world. You were beautiful and a talent beyond belief, your songs will live on forever and you will always be remembered as the one of the greatest singer of our time..!

Sia announces retirement from pop stardom..!

Aussie pop gal Sia has announced via her twitter page that she is “resigning” from the music scene and will no longer be touring, videos or interviews, prefer to work behind the scenes as a songwriter.
After five hit albums and countless collaborations including the smash hit Titanium with David Guetta the singer has had it at being a celebrity.

Sia became a household with her single Breathe Me, being used in cult television show Six Feet Under. She has recently been mentoring alongside Christina Aguilera on the US series The Voices, however after personal health problems and her desire to stay off the road after promoting her last album We Are Born, the singer is calling it quits at the ages of 36..!
It’s sad that we will no longer touring, however least the Aussie singer will still be making music. Check out Clap Your Hands and SCP fav.

New Video Alert - Dev - In My Trunk

We're big fans of Dev - she was runner up in the SCP Awards for One To Watch 2012 and we've already seen some great songs from her this year! Dancing Shoes was released early January and now we have an all new video In My Trunk. Much more upbeat than the light Dancing Shoes we see Dev return to her more electronic roots. Sounding a little bit like a Black Eyed Peas track, In My Trunk is very catchy with a phat beat that's sure to work well in the clubs. Check out the new one from Dev here now..!
