At the SCP office today, the topic of conversation was he RETURN of the boy band! With The Wanted, JLS and even Take That blazing up the charts, are we back in a boy band era? We are thinking yes, as the UK is pumping out the fresh young boys quicker than Westlife being dropped and Syco unleashing new boy toys One Direction!

They are perhaps the most eagerly awaited UK X Factor act of all time. Teen magazines have been unprecedentedly barraged by fan-mail for months, TV studios mobbed by screaming girls and radio stations overwhelmed. With such a legion of adoring fans in rapture at the prospect of being finally in possession of their idols' work, One Direction's debut single surely cannot arrive quickly enough. We featured the boys a few months ago and reckon they will be heading to these shores very soon with there new track What Makes You Beautiful.

Dedicated to a girl who fails to appreciate her own beauty, What Makes You Beautiful is the perfect introduction to 1D's sound. Frenzied and peppered by hooky guitars, the single is a power pop juggernaut which sets the scene for the boys' forthcoming debut album beautifully.

Written and produced by contemporary pop wizards Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Usher), Rami Yacoub (Nicole Scherzinger, Pink) and Carl Falk (Taio Cruz) the song was recorded in LA early in 2011 and instantly became a band favourite, as well as obvious first single.

Harry says: "We're so excited to get the single finally out there. When we were recording in the studio we knew instantly that we wanted this track to be our first single".

Zayn adds: "I think the album is going to surprise a few people. It's very individual to us. We wanted to make sure that it was our sound."

One Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful is the # 6 most added song to Australian radio this week and debuts at # 91 on the National Airplay chart.

One Direction are Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik. All five boys auditioned for the UK’s X Factor in 2010 as solo artists. However, at the suggestion of guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, they joined forces as a group, quickly becoming one of the competition's most popular acts of all time, finishing in the final three and garnering a gigantic fan-base along the way.

After wowing crowds across the country on The X Factor Live Tour across the UK, the boys signed to Syco Music and immediately set about recording their debut album with some of the world's most sort-after producers. The results of which will be heard in 2012. Check out the boys below!
